Bordeaux Bakery

Alarm goes off, its 4 a.m. Time to head out. Baking this morning with Manu, a French baker who owns a bakery here in Bordeaux, Pains La Fabrique near St Catherine De Rue. I arrive and the early morning prep person apparently was not made aware of my coming. I knock on the boarded and shut entrance. He yells something back, which I later learn means "fuck off". He thinks I'm homeless. (I am, but how does HE know that?)

Eventually a kinder baker shows up, David, i tell him in my broken French i am there to assist and watch. He welcomes me in, we all have a good laugh, and we get to work.

Note to self: When working in a foreign country, always bring a reference book , you might know the language, but when getting technical, you'll for sure be a bit thrown off.

You simply, absolutely, undeniably cannot fake fresh.

This blog has spent almost 3 years in the making. I guess the time just hasn't been right, you know? I'm 26 years old now, no longer the "prime" age of 23. But then again, when I was 23 i was rather awkward and a bit of an idiot, so what is a "prime" age anyhow, without wisdom and confidence? I mean, if you're an asshole and/or an idiot how far can you actually get based on your youthfulness and appearance? (camara pans to megan fox)
(ok maybe you can still get pretty far)

Dammit, megan!

What I'm trying to say is, I am less of an asshole now than ever before(!) so I now feel i'm ready to publicly disprove that.
Wait... ...yeah, that's right.

Also my friend told me to start a blog and stop trying to sell my shoes to homeless people over here in Europe. Key word *trying*.

If you're interested in matters of life, i.e. food, jokes, mouth watering visuals, then read on. Hopefully you'll find something that interests you or at least sparks an imagination match. Even if you don't, at least now you are aware of imagination matches.

You'll thank me next time your ass explodes in your new boyfriends hip 19th century bathroom sans air circulation.

(did I mention how much i love nyc?)

Bon appétit!
